Irregular periods- Causes and Remedies

A normal menstrual cycle lasts 28 days including or excluding 7 days. Early, missed and late periods are a sign of irregular periods. Irregular periods are a common issue in women. Irregular periods occur as a result of irregular ovulation. Irregular periods are medically known as oligomenorrhea. Periods could be very painful with severe cramps, back pain, bloating, etc. Eating disorder, weight loss, weight gain, menopause, thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalance, liver diseases, tuberculosis, miscarriage, and other health conditions can be the reason for irregular periods. On the other hand increased exercise, smoking, alcohol, caffeine, travel, stress and certain medication can also be the cause of the problem.

The birth pill can cause you to miss a period, less frequent or more frequent or even no periods at all.

2. Polycystic ovarian syndrome
Irregular periods can be due to PCOS(Polycystic ovarian syndrome). It occurs because of hormonal imbalance.

An irregular period is common in teenage because it takes time to be in a pattern. Irregular periods are common at the time of menopause and normal.

4. Stress
Stress can cause hormone imbalance causing missed or irregular periods.

5. excessive exercise and overeating
Too much exercise and food can be the reason for irregular periods.

Remedies for irregular periods

1.Meditate and yoga
stress is the main cause of hormone imbalance and irregular periods. The stress management techniques like meditation, yoga, and visualization should be performed to relive.

2. Ginger
Resolve the irregularities in your menstrual cycle by consuming ginger. Boil ginger for 5 min and add a bit of sugar and then drink three times daily after eating your meals.

3. Crushed cinnamon
Cinnamon is believed to increased body heat. This also helps in reducing menstrual cramps and improving the regularity of your menstrual cycle.

4. Oral contraceptive pills

The pill should be consumed as prescribed by the doctor to get your periods back to the track.

5. Turmeric
Due to its antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effects, it can ease menstrual pain. It also helps in balancing hormones and regulate periods.

6. Papaya
It helps in normalizing the menstrual cycle as it has anti-inflammatory properties and contains nutrients that ease muscle fiber.

These remedies are not only effective and cheap and they do not have any side effects. still, you can consult your doctor and take their advice.
